The interface between polymers and carbon-based nano scale materials provides the best of both worlds in terms of materials properties. While the light-weight, high pressure and temperature resilient polymers provide a versatile matrix for a diverse collection of applications, the introduction of a small amount of graphite, graphene or carbon nanotubes drastically improves the strength.

Our group aims to understand the polymer/CNT interface from an atomistic point of view. We employ molecular dynamics methods together with density functional theory to attempt to provide a complete picture of the physical properties of the interface.
